Medication Aide

The Medication Aide Course is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required to administer medications safely and effectively under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals. This course covers a range of topics, including pharmacology basics, medication classifications, dosage calculations, proper medication administration techniques, infection control, and legal and ethical responsibilities.
Students will learn about different routes of administration, including oral, topical, inhalation, and injectable medications, while also gaining a deep understanding of potential side effects, contraindications, and drug interactions. Emphasis is placed on patient safety, proper documentation, and compliance with state and federal regulations, such as HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.
Hands-on training and real-world scenarios will help students develop the confidence needed to work in various healthcare settings, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation centers, and home healthcare. Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to take certification exams and pursue employment as Medication Aides, assisting licensed nurses in providing high-quality patient care.
